Subject: Not really a Christmas story

The brief story of Janet, a “child of ignorance, poverty, and despair” is strong enough to hold interest though the sentiments are dated. The ending is a surprise, perhaps a nod to more realistic literature of that time. To find this eork somewhat engaging was also a surprise.
